Interview:

It seems to me that you could ask twenty different people this question and get twenty different answers. Being in Of The Son, an outspoken Christian band, I have seen our music as a way to reach many people that would not typically be reached by the church. We play a lot of non-Christian venues for a majority of non-Christian crowds, and our music is a great way to connect with those people in order to share the Gospel. Music can break down barriers in ways that nothing else can, and music has given us great opportunities to minister to people. Our music is also a very spiritual experience for all the members of this band. We like to refer to our music as “Praisecore”, a mix of modern Hardcore and Metal with praise and worship style lyrics. Our music is definitely worship for us, and we try to make it that for our fans. Of course, the spiritual significance of music is by no means limited to Christianity, or any religion for that matter. Music has an incredible ability to illicit different feelings, and much stronger feelings than you would get from simply hearing someone speak. Music can evoke so many different emotions and speak directly to the soul. I believe that music can have a massive influence on us as individuals, on our society, and on our world. The spiritual significance of music seems absolutely endless.
