Interview:

For me, good music means pure connection to myself; as a listener and as an artist. At its best music can touch both my body and soul, create an empty space for my thoughts and real feelings to fly free. The outer pressure, whether it’s laws, religion, values, or some other peoples’ beliefs, makes it often hard to think of me as myself and nothing else. Music is a place with no restrictions, an ideal world of some sort. The music that I often find comfortable to relate with, and give myself into, are melancholic and aggressive because of the fact that it’s simply hard to express and live the bad feelings with arms open wide in real life. I live the bad things in my life through music, channelling the harmful emotions in a creative way, and making the pressure a source of power. You can fill the empty space in life with creative action to make your living less painful. Music in a way also connects me to someone or something outside myself. Music is a sociological phenomenon. It creates groups and in other hand separates people from another. People with the same taste of music also share something deeper. I wouldn’t want to relate music with religion but you have to admit they share some of the same elements. In both a spiritual and sociological sense, I think a perfect situation would be that we wouldn’t need music, religion, or voodoo to feel connected and whole. As much as I love creating and listening to music, “the art” still sometimes feels like a scapegoat for being a pervert, murderer, and an egoist of the worst kind. But hey, “Don’t shoot me; I’m just a messenger.”

“Music can touch both my body and soul, create an empty space for my thoughts and real feelings to fly free.”
– Tommi Muhli, guitarist in Sinamore
