Interview:

This is a rather interesting question. I looked up the word “spirituality” in the dictionary, and it speaks clearly of relating to religion. I am completely against organized religion in any shape or form. On the other-hand, I suppose you could say there is a brotherhood amongst Metal-heads, but I wouldn’t call it spirituality. I personally believe in the Gods of Metal like Kilmister, Dio, and Blackmore, but this isn’t really a religious feeling I have about these killer players. Of course I realize that music has its place among the hearts of all people whether it be Country, Metal, or even Black Metal. But I cannot honestly believe that these Black Metal musicians are anything more than good actors. Do you honestly believe that these guys are making sacrifices to their lord Satan? I have toured with many of these so-called Black Metal bands, and hell, they won’t even have a shot of whiskey with me until after the show, for fear of messing up I suppose. I take the stage and enjoy playing my music to the masses whenever possible, but I wouldn’t say it’s a religious experience. I honestly think that Metal is a way of life, and I personally live it to the fullest. I would say there is a spirit in Metal, but no real spiritual significance whatsoever. I choose to believe in myself and others should learn to do the same.

“Music has its place among the hearts of all people.”
