Interview:

“LOVE AND FORGIVENESS – THE CORNERSTONES OF MY LIFE”

When I eventually stopped blaming other people, my parents, or the world for what I felt had gone wrong in my life, not only did the quality of my life itself improve, but also the quality of my music utterly changed. It turned me into a firm believer that the more we forgive both ourselves and others and the more we decide to love without agenda, the greater our creative offering is to the world.

Our art, whether it’s music, painting, writing, or any form of creativity, is an expression of our innermost being. If we are tortured inside, full of angst, fear, or fury, it is this that will flavour our ‘creation’, and it is this that will be communicated to others. When people hear music, see art or read books, it’s the ‘feeling’ they get that lingers, not what they think. As an artist, what is going on inside you is what will be felt. What the world needs now is love, and what people need now is forgiveness and compassion. Not more pain.

By looking within, letting go of grievances, and finding our deeper connection to one another, we open our heart to our own and everyone else’s suffering. This leads us to compassion, and compassion has a high and healing vibration.

All things we think, feel, see, and touch have a vibration. Fear and anger have a low vibration and can be very destructive, whereas love and forgiveness vibrate at the highest level and are creative, healing, and deeply spiritual.

They communicate the beauty, joy, and depth of life. This is not just some New Age fluffy ‘feel good’ thing, this is the real deal. It gives hope where there may be none, and brings comfort to pain.

My own journey tells this story of transformation. My music was as broken and miserable as I was. It had the essence of pointlessness. But as I changed spiritually and transformed my life, my music automatically became less negative. I started to embrace singing about love which was unheard of for me. I even produced my first proper album release called appropriately “Unconditional Love,” and the whole of my life changed, for the better. It opened a new area of possibility both lyrically and musically. It healed something inside me that had hurt for a long time and I was able to love my partner more than ever before.

Do not underestimate the power of love and forgiveness. They have become the cornerstones of my life. When I am feeling angry or anxious or I begin to blame others and am judgmental, I am the one who ultimately suffers. I am very quick now at catching myself and making a conscious choice to love myself, forgive myself and others, and replace judgement with compassion. Try it, it really works and will serve you for the rest of your life!
