Interview:

I like to think that music is the deep hum behind reality, part of the thread that ties the universe together. If mass is simultaneously particle and wave at all times, then maybe the great dance of the Cosmos is one of interacting vibrations. I think music is a mainline connection to this and many other aspects of reality. I feel the room pulsate around me, the excitement of the electrons in the everyday objects and living things around me as I play. I feel the connection grow between the listener and I, like someone opening the arteries in our necks to connect them. Music has the power to pump life, hope and love, aggression, vitality or fear into any situation. It stimulates the creation of kids, the resolution of arguments, wild jubilation, and also murder, hopelessness, and even suicide. A simple nursery rhyme in the 1600’s could strike terror in the heart of a king. For generations to come, toddlers would sing of the king’s foolishness before they even understood the words they were singing. Music is magic. The deep magic. Tolkien’s “The Silmarillion” depicts a universe created by music. The idea that we were sung into existence is appealing to me personally. I’ll go with that!

“Music is the deep hum behind reality, part of the thread that ties the universe together.”
