Interview:

Spirituality is relative, like anything else. The reason one person does something and the result of the act is different for everyone. Music has been around from the beginning of time. Things make noise and for some reason the way these sounds are arranged can cause different emotions. Song has been used in worship and in protest, comedy, and sorrow. The power of music is not something you can argue. The spirituality however is not in the music, but the person making it. Notes are notes, E is E. When a Punk band uses E it’s an E, and when a worship band uses E it is still an E. Prayer is spiritual, worship music is basically prayer to music. It’s not spiritual in itself. Music is an arrangement of notes to invoke emotion, which may be spiritual in itself.

“Prayer is spiritual, worship music is basically prayer to music.”
– Luke Anthony, bassist in Alove For Enemies
