Interview:

Music is a way to escape reality because music can affect your mind. When you listen to music it makes you imagine situations in which you feel comfortable. Recently I talked to a physicist who explained me that music can be comprehended in terms of waves and frequencies. As we are all unique beings, we tend to appreciate a certain length of those waves and frequencies.

These waves are then deciphered by the brain into feelings. For me, the feelings are linked to the way music is translated into spiritual patterns for a particular individual. So the spiritual significance of the music can be related to that feeling of well-being. The waves are like the guide to the spirituality of music. This spirituality is what your brain identifies as something pleasant, no matter what is said in the lyrics or in the imagery. The vibrations of the music make it spiritual.

“Music is a way to escape reality… The vibrations of the music make it spiritual.”
– Philippe Herbaut, guitarist in Act Of Gods
